Updated: The Local Search Cluster… err, Ecosystem
Huge props to David Mihm for having the mental, organizational and Photoshop skillz needed to update one of the truly informative infographics in not only local search, but in the whole search industry. This is an overview of how local business data flows through what I like to call the Local Search Cluster*** … but “ecosystem” is just as accurate and also more professional, so we’ll go with that for now.
Here’s the image, but you really should read David’s post about it not only to see a larger version, but also to get some background on David’s research and what’s changed since the image was first published a few years ago.

I just pinned this graphic to Pinterest. Nice find Matt, and thanks for creating this David! The local search ecosystem always seems to be most relevant to mom-and-pop type businesses that usually don’t have a very thorough web presence. This is super helpful.
