Open for SEO Business / Joining Search Engine Land
This is almost a continuation of the previous post…
Meanwhile, I come home from Columbus to start another chapter in my own life: I’m now open for business as an independent search marketing consultant and trainer. I enjoyed my short time with the KeyRelevance crew, but have decided that it’s time to be out on my own.
I’m ready to help any business — big or small, retail or service provider — increase traffic, conversions, and ROI from your online marketing efforts. Whether you need SEO, local search marketing, blog consulting/setup, social media, etc., feel free to contact me and start the conversation.
I can provide hands-on consulting with specific, actionable recommendations to get you on the road to success. Or, if you prefer to do your own SEO in-house, I can provide training for your team no matter how big or small.

At the same time as I begin my own consulting and training business, I’m also joining the Search Engine Land staff as Assignment Editor. That’s a fancy title that basically means I’ll be helping to coordinate daily news coverage with Danny Sullivan and Barry Schwartz, and joining the excellent writers who continue to make SEL such a terrific industry resource.
I am very excited to work with you Matt!
Congrats, Matt! Will you be contributing more articles to SEL or working mainly behind the scenes? I love reading your stuff so the more the better as far as I’m concerned 🙂

Congrats Matt … on both counts! We’ll have to celebrate with a Junior’s cheesecake 🙂
Thanks, Barry — I’m looking forward to it, too. You guys already do an amazing job, so I only hope to not mess things up. 🙂
Carrie — I’ll be helping Barry and Danny (et al) with daily news coverage, so you may see my byline on that kind of content. I’m not sure about my ongoing involvement with the “Small is Beautiful” column, but hope to be able to continue that, too.
Jeff — thanks. Guess what? My wonderful NYC friend shipped me a Junior’s Devil’s Food Cheesecake for my birthday. It arrived today. 🙂
Congrats Matt for joining the excellent team at SEL. Wish you all the best with your consulting. 🙂
Way to go Matt! I wish you much success!
Are you going to be at SMX NY? I’d love to meet you in person (finally).
Thank you, Manish & Karon. I won’t be at SMX next month, Karon … sorry. I’d like to meet you one of these days, as well. I think I’m done traveling for the year (unless it’s client-related), so hopefully in ’09.
Exciting! I’ve thought about taking that step before and going independent, but there’s just high demand for good SEO’s where I’m from and the good opportunities keep springing forth.
I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now, you’re very competent and a client will be lucky to have you at the helm of their SEO!
Cheers,
Adam
Congratulations, Matt! You’re going to do really well at this.
Will you be creating a static services section on this blog, now that you are open for business? Seems like the right thing to do.
Miriam
Matt, that’s cool. Congrats on the move!

Congrats Matt! It can be exciting to go off on your own. Wish you the best of luck!
Congrats Matt, I’m sure you’ll do well on your own you have a lot to offer. Best wishes and God bless!
Congratulations Matt, I definitely think this is a wise move
Fantastic news Matt. I’d wish you luck but I really don’t think you’ll need it. You’ll be pulling clients in no time! 🙂
From Adam to Brendan and all in between — thanks for your support. I do appreciate it a lot!
Congratulations, Matt! Wish you the best of luck!
Congrats Matt. That inbox must be loading up quickly. Whatever you do I’m sure it’s going to be great.
Congrats Matt! Hitting the big time!
Huge news! Congratulations on making the bold move to consulting; that will pay off in dividends.
