Local Search in 2008

I’m at SES New York this week and enjoyed a really solid session in the Kelsey track called “Video Made the SMB Star” — it really opened my eyes to what’s going on with local search and video content. Best of all, my wife was sitting next to me during the session and is equally excited about some new ideas for creating real estate-related video content. If my blogging slows down in coming weeks/months, it’s because A) I’m traveling a ton, and B) I’m making videos about Tri-Cities (Washington) real estate.

Local Search white paperMeanwhile, video isn’t the only thing happening in local search. And while I probably won’t be blogging much this week from NYC, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that I have contributed to a new local search white paper released today by Marchex (my employer). The report is, in my opinion, quite good, and well worth the fact that you do have to register in order to receive it. I write about Local SEO in the white paper, and several of my co-workers cover topics such as local advertising (PPC), local reviews, and call tracking.

Since I’m obviously biased by being a co-author of the report, here are some additional links for more information about the white paper:

    Matt,
That’s so nice you got to attend with your wife! I bet she got some really great ideas.

Any chance you’ll have time to share some of what you learned from the session?

Congrats on the White Paper. Sounds really good.

Thanks for the link! A brief overview of the Wp, shows a great deal of thought went into this. Appears to be packed with great info.

    Thanks again. Enjoy NY!
