November 23, 2006: Happy ThanksgivingSometime tomorrow afternoon, when my son and I are sad because the Seahawks are losing 33-13 in the 4th quarter to the Cowboys, we will be instantly cheered up by a sight that looks something like the photo at right on our dining room table. And we’ll sit down to eat a great meal and give thanks for all the blessings we’ve had in what has been a remarkable year.

We do this thing where each person takes a letter of the alphabet and names something s/he’s thankful for. I don’t know who’s going to go first, so I have no idea what letters I’ll get. But I do know I’m thankful that she’s my wife, he’s my son, and she’s my daughter. (Sorry, we won’t publish pictures of her until she’s a bit older and bigger.) I’m thankful that we finally got a (crazy) dog.

I’m thankful that this has been published, and that, so far, the reviews are great. I’m thankful for the crazy career changes I’ve been through this year, which have left me a very happy camper who enjoys waking up and seeing what each day will bring.

I’m thankful for the amazing friends I have in this industry. I’m thankful for the amazing friends I have in U2 fandom. I’m thankful U2 will have a new album and tour next year (warning: blogging will be slow). I’m thankful the election is over. I’m thankful for cheeseburgers and ice cream, the two best foods on earth.

I’m also thankful for the chance to blog here and thankful for the fact that you come back and read what I write, whether good, bad, or ugly. (Hopefully more good than bad or ugly!)

Thank You.

And as long as we’re on the subject of being thankful, I don’t think I mentioned this: Thankfulness was the theme of my “Small is Beautiful” column last week on Search Engine Land. I wrote an alphabetical list of things small business owners can be thankful for when it comes to online marketing:

A Small Business Search Marketing Thanksgiving From A-Z

Happy Thanksgiving! See you on the other side of the holiday….
