FYI: SBS Feed Tweaks

Filed in Site News by Matt McGee on March 24, 2007

If you subscribe to the SBS feed, you’ve surely noticed your feed reader showing more than a dozen “new” posts — but that’s not really the case. I just made some tweaks to the Feedburner setup, figuring it’s about time I actually take this blog and its feed seriously, and do some marketing of it. So, the tweaks include:

  • Added some of the “FeedFlare” options, like Comments, Save to del.icio.us, and Digg This
  • Added “Subscribe to This Feed” link at bottom of every post (on the site, not the feed)
  • Added copyright notice to feed (as if it’ll stop the scrapers….)
  • Added del.icio.us as a post “source” — once a day the feed will show a list of any links I’ve saved to my del.icio.us account.

These are on top of the one big change I made at the start of March — switching to full posts in the feed. Sadly, that hasn’t led to any noticeable increase in subscribers. Maybe these recent changes will help.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming….
