Another LBC to Use: MapQuest’s

Filed in Local Search by Matt McGee on June 23, 2011

It’s somewhat strange to think that MapQuest, for years the number one mapping site online and an obvious source of visibility for local businesses, has never offered a way to manage business listings on the site.

That’s changed today with the news that MapQuest now has a Local Business Center. It has pretty much the same feature set that you’ll find on Google, Bing, etc., though it’s a little less mature than those older products.

Check out my Search Engine Land article, MapQuest Launches Local Business Listings Center, for more information about how the MapQuest LBC works.

There process is pretty simple. I’m always happy to find a new business citation site to add. I had four locations to add and in about 20 minutes I had all 4 submitted and two in completed and two in review. I had to move the map pin on one and change the name on another so they went into manual review. The one where I changed the name was approved in a day and the one where I moved the map pin I am still waiting on.
