About the ‘Don’t Miss’ Links…

Quick note about the links in the DON’T MISS section to the right….

There are dozens of informative web sites, forums, mailing lists, blogs, etc., that I could link to. And over time, I’m sure the list will expand. But the goal will always be to link to other resources that offer helpful information for small business owners like you.

For example, let’s look at a recent post from the SEO Coach blog. It’s titled SEO: Where’s Your Home Page?

Dan Thies, the author, makes a simple but important suggestion about how you link to your home page: drop the index.html from the link. He makes the point that www.example.com and www.example.com/index.html are not the same thing.

No, it’s not the same thing… it’s the same content, that you are showing at more than one URL. It’s duplicate content, to the search engines, and you are the one who is linking to it so they can find it.

So, there you go. That’s the kind of helpful information I plan to link to here on Small Business SEM.

Oh, yeah — it’s also the kind of helpful information I plan to write, too!
