9/11 … Five Years Later

Filed in Off-Topic by Matt McGee on September 11, 2006

Five years later, it’s easy for those of us outside New York or Washington, DC to put 9/11 in the past. We’ve moved on, and now 9/11 — and the reaction to it — has become more of a political issue than anything.

But for many people, it’s still a life issue.

I have a dear friend who continues to help to this day with some of the support programs for spouses and especially kids who continue to struggle with what happened. They’ll never get over it, but hopefully they can get through it.

Hopefully none of us will ever have to learn what it’s like to watch a loved one die on television as jets crash into buildings, or whatever method(s) might be used in the future. Hopefully none of us will ever have to explain what happened to a 5-year-old who’ll never her dad again (or mom).

The point of this post is just to ask you, if you’re so inclined, to ignore war and politics and left and right, and just for a moment focus on people. They still need your thoughts and prayers.

If you’re curious about what’s still being done to help the living victims, here are a few links:
