370 Links Per Month for the Low, Low Price of $220 USD
Yes, I also get unwanted SEO sales pitches every day via email. I really love the ones that begin by telling me what SEO stands for and why it’s important to be found in search engines. You don’t say!!??!! Most of that spam gets deleted right away, but this one from Rahul in India caught my eye. Imagine being able to get 370 links every month for only $220 — what a smokin’ deal this must be!
You know what else I love? That these folks charge more for search engine submission ($30 per month) than they do for “one-way link building” ($20 per month).
Here’s a note to the small business owners reading this: Please delete any email you get like this right away. You cannot get 370 quality links for $220 in any month, much less every month. Plus, out of the 20 things on that list above, there are really only five that matter a lot. (Nos. 1, 6, 12, 13 and 16 … as long as their definition of “interlinking” isn’t something spammy.)
Hmmmm. Now that I think about it, this SEO company is actually a heckuva lot more expensive than the cheap SEO offer that I got a couple years ago. (Yes, I’m trying to rank higher than #4 for “cheap SEO.”)
If you need SEO help, I can’t get you 370 links for $220, but I can offer you my highly-regarded How to SEO Your Site e-book for only $25.
My favorite part is the “Two article creation of more than 400 word.”
So how did it turn out? Did they deliver the “all this quality work in $220 only” lol
We should start a site dedicated to these emails called “Cheap SEO”. To bad cheapseo[dot]com is already taken (looks very fishy to me).
I have a few clients who forward these to me on daily basis. I’ve personally seen emails with prices that are way cheap. SEO firms from overseas are also targeting US based SEO companies, offering to do our SEO for cheap!
😉
Its when I see emails like these, that I wonder and wish, if there had been some industry recognised/endorsed training procedure before a person could start doing SEO, then there would have been some minimum quality level in an SEO firm’s services… People like these barely know anything about SEO, and they make all kinds of tall claims! Although sometimes I also feel that even if there had been some industry recognised training/curriculum, even then such firms would exist!!
Based upon some of the comments I get to my SEO blog I can understand how they can advertise the attempt to get links for so cheap. Unfortunately 100 out of 100 of these blog comments designed to obtain links go straight to the comment trash bin. When do the site owners that fall for these prices realize they are not obtaining any links at all.
The sad thing is that at the end of the campaign when these people fail to deliver any results, the small business owner who got conned into believing he got a bargain (370 links every month for only $220!) will conclude that SEO is a scam and will go out of his way to badmouth the industry.
Matt,
It scares me to think that until consumers get wind of this sort of bull, we will constantly be fighting the positive reputation of search marketers and SEO experts amongst all this snake oil and over promising under delivering.
I wish us all the best. It would make sense for business owners to tune into organizations that advocate effective and transparent “white hat” seo methods like the Dallas Fort Worth Search Engine Marketing Association http://www.DFWSEM.org
Cheers,
Mike Stewart
I hope Rahul gets to read this blog… (:
I think I got the same one, Matt….proves that idiots come after us Canucks too….I’d guess….sigh….
Thanks for sharing Matt. 370 SEO links for $220! An absolute rip off. Unfortunately there are so many phoney companies like this out there. One just have to be extra careful.
Man these guys must seek out the most visible people online and then send them the same spam emails. I get these kind of emails ALL the time! Your advise is spot on – DELETE!
Lol, I get those emails all the time too! I really like when they use the contact form on my firearm blog stating they can get me to page 1, whent it’s already on page 1 for all my targeted keywords!
They make no effort to do some basic research…so I just hit the Spam button when I get those emails.
