2009 SEMMY Awards: Planning is Underway (Wanna Help?)
Planning is underway for next year’s SEMMY Awards, and I want to share two things in this post: first, an update on what’s going on; and second, a call for help from anyone interested.
Here’s the Latest
As I said all along, next year’s SEMMYs have to use a better method of finding nominated posts. Even though this year’s nominees included 127 different authors, there was still a lot of great content that wasn’t included.
With that in mind, I’ve formed an advisory committee to discuss ideas for fixing this and making sure we cast a wider net in the future. The committee is currently made up of myself and eight of the SEMMY judges. I’d like to add a couple more people (non-judges) to the committee, so please read on.
How You Can Help
1.) If you’re interested in being on the advisory committee, please e-mail me. If you think I may not know who you are, please tell me a little about yourself. I suspect there’ll be more volunteers stepping forward than we have room for, so I can’t guarantee you’ll be asked to help.
2.) If you don’t have time or interest in being on the committee, but have ideas for choosing next year’s nominees, the committee wants to hear from you. Please leave your ideas in the comments of this post so that everyone can read the ideas. When ideas get group review, they often improve. We want that. 🙂
Thanks for reading and for your interest in the SEMMYs!
Matt i will help out if you need. I know i mentioned this before, but to make your job easier next year you should consider adding a link plug-in or tool that authors can add to their blog or website so others can nominate the individual post for certain categories. I am sure there would be a way to figure this out. Something like a Sphinn button?
We chatted about it in the comments of my blog:
