Yelp is Growing Like Gangbusters
By Matt McGee on Jun 14, 2007 in Local Search
Local/Social site Yelp.com got a nice writeup in USA Today this week, which includes some stunning stats about the site’s growth:
- 1 million reviews posted since 2004
- 500,000 of those reviews in the past four months
- 124% audience growth from May to May (Nielsen/NetRatings)
- 1 million monthly visitors in May (still just a fraction of Google Maps and Yahoo Local)
Reviews broken by category are as follows:
Restaurants: 36%
Retail stores: 26%
Beauty and fitness: 8%
Arts and entertainment: 8%
Home and local services: 5%
Health and medical: 4%
That’s all from USA Today. Greg Sterling has even more data which he got … because he’s Greg Sterling.
