If you live in Eastern Washington, consider yourself invited to the first GetListed.org Local University event. It’s happening February 4th in Spokane, with two identical half-day seminars planned to teach small businesses how to increase visibility and do better business via local search.

I’m one of a handful of speakers (can we call ourselves teachers or even professors??) on the schedule, along with GetListed.org co-founder David Mihm, plus Mike Blumenthal, Mary Bowling, and Spokane’s own Ed Reese. Google is helping to sponsor the event, and will also be sending two reps from the local business center team to talk and meet with business owners.

The seminar costs $129, but you can use the coupon code “mcgee2010” to register for only $79. I’d sign-up soon, because space in each session is limited to only 100 people and this event is being promoted heavily in Spokane.

Assuming all goes well, this’ll be the first of many GetListed Local University events, with the goal being to keep costs at a minimum and hold more seminars in cities that are often skipped over by the bigger conferences.

Hope to see you in Spokane in a couple weeks!

    Hi Matt…
great posting and yes, while I’d love to be there, it’s just too short a notice for me to arrange to be across the continent so quickly.

but I think you should allow Mike to host one in Buffalo and I’d be at that one in an hour!

oh, will there be a slide deck or blog of same for those of us who can’t “make it?”

    🙂

    Matt,

Excited to see that you are using the GetListed format for a conference. Would love to have you in Raleigh at some point.

The SMB is still woefully under served in the Internet marketing space so your efforts to move the needle on providing affordable opportunities to learn is great to see.

Please keep us all posted on your progress!

do you have an inital list of the cities you’re going to target that you could publish? we won’t hold you to it. 😉

Hey guys, thanks for the positive response.

We are currently discussing where the next couple of events will be, but we are mainly focused on being able to pull off the first one at the moment! 🙂

It is certainly our goal to try to move around to different parts of the country.
