Social Media Advice in Action

I don’t know how it works in your life, but in mine the SEO advice I give (to clients, friends, my spouse, etc.) isn’t always put in action. So what a pleasant surprise this week as I was on Yahoo! Answers and came upon these two answers:

Yahoo Answers signed answer 1

Yahoo Answers signed answer 2

One of the tips I gave in my presentation on Yahoo! Answers was to sign your name when leaving a link in your answer; the reason is that spammers just drop links, and you want to distinguish yourself from those folks as much as possible.

As you can see from the red circles above, Sasa and Brent both gave good answers, both signed their replies, and both were voted “Best Answer.” I don’t know if Sasa attended SMX Social Media, but I do know Brent was there (he gave a great presentation) and if Brent took my advice to heart this past week when using Yahoo Answers, well … I’m all kinds of happy about that.

Now if only my clients, friends, and wife would follow my advice, too!

Doh. Looks like I missed that recommendation. I’ve been using Yahoo Answers a lot lately, trying to get to LVL 3, but with quality answers not a quantity. I’ve noticed new Yahoo Answers questions are getting indexed in Google EXTREMELY fast lately.

To be honest i really enjoyed the session. I was always toying with the idea of getting into Yahoo Answers and decided to take your advice and jumped in.

I have a 73% best answer ratio and have 19 best answers. All since the conference and starting my account up.

I think your advice helped me out and was good stuff.

    Cheers.

That’s very cool, Brent. I’m honored to have helped like that. BTW, I loved your presentation.
