At Beanstalk we've actually written deadlines into our contract, which can void the guarantee if the client takes too long. But with guaranteed services you always have to dot all you Is, and cross all your Ts :)

We didn't have a choice on the hosting, Surveyor. The blog and web site are hosted with my previous employer and were both setup ages ago as you see them now -- domain and sub-domain.

I'm strongly considering moving them to Dreamhost (where SBS is hosted) and combining everything under the one domain, but that will require more effort and time than I can give it right now.

Miriam - thank you.

Cari - yes. :)

I am interested to know why you decided to host your wife's blog on a sub-domain. All the advice that I have read (including from your friend Rand at SEOmoz) suggests that it's best to host a blog on your primary domain in most circumstances.

Do you think your wife's website would have seen a similar benefit if the blog had been hosted there? I see it is currently ranking well below the blog. I also noticed that you don't link to the blog from the website.

What ever you are doing seems to be working. Well done.

Yes, sir. I hear and I heed! It's kind of exciting when you realize your spouse really does listen to you, huh?
