SBS in the Power 150

SES San Jose is going well, and I am working on a couple posts that will involve thoughts & takeaways from this year’s show. At the moment, my main thought is that this conference is a lot more enjoyable — at least for me — when you’re not live-blogging every session you attend. When you actually have time to listen and think about what’s being said and how it applies specifically to current clients, past clients, your own business practices, etc., there seems to be more value. So, I’m glad I made the decision to not blog sessions at this show. Update: For more proof of why I don’t need to be live-blogging sessions, have a look at this. Holy S—.

AdAge Power 150With that out of the way, I’m quite happy to drop a quick non-SES note here on the blog: Small Business SEM has been added to the AdAge Power 150, a list of the “top media and marketing blogs” that was originally created by Todd Andrlik and recently moved under the AdAge name. The list is a total misnomer, since there are now 419 blogs on the list! And SBS has somehow managed to come in at (tied for) 112th. That’s pretty cool, if you ask me….

More fun when not blogging? Yeah, I’m feeling that. Seriously. I don’t think I set out to live blog, I started just taking notes in my blog but one thing leads to another and, well, next thing you know you’re live blogging and not digesting the info. Of course, now that I started, I. just. can’t. stop.

I think I’ll try a different approach for PubCon.

    Hi Matt,
Congratulations on getting onto that list. That’s great.

It’s good you didn’t have to blog if this helped you get more out of SES, but I was really not happy with the coverage of your presentation. It was really pared down, and I do so hope you’ll post your powerpoint. I especially would like to know what this means:

    Negative reviews create trust

I hope you’ll explain that, as it took me aback in the liveblogging. I’d love to know what you mean by this.

    Kind Regards,
    Miriam

  3. Congrats on making the list, Matt! (Even though you knocked me down a few spots :)) Seriously, it’s great to see Small Business SEM in there. I’m sure you’ll be climbing up the list in no time!

Matt, congrats on making the list — a well-deserved slot!

It was terrific meeting you at SES & now that I’ve finally gotten comfortable with my RSS reader I will hopefully be reading and commenting a lot more frequently on your blog! 🙂

Woo hoo! I have 3 stars! I just noticed that. Yay!

David – that’s so nice you got to meet Matt.

Thanks for the kind words, gang. Stoney – that’s how it starts, dude. “I’ll just take notes for my own benefit.” And then you end up live-blogging every session you attend. I had to force myself to TURN OFF my computer before certain sessions. I even loaned my laptop to Rand for one session!

David – it was great to meet you. I just added you to my Bloglines. Looking forward to further conversations.
