Polling Booths are Open – Please Vote

The search marketing industry is remarkable for how much writing, sharing, and helping we do collectively. Think about it this way: A business owner with zero knowledge of search marketing could use the material we all give away on our blogs and message boards to save (tens of) thousands of dollars by learning it all him/herself.

So, while it may seem self-congratulatory, I think there’s plenty of value in all the year-end awards we do. (And I’ll be putting my money where my mouth is on that count in a couple weeks.)

Small Business SEM is currently nominated in two awards:

The 2007 Search Blog Awards hosted again this year by Loren at Search Engine Journal. I’m nominated in the Best Local Search Blog category, but I won’t be voting for myself. I would recommend you vote for either Screenwerk/Greg Sterling, Blumenthals/Mike Blumenthal, or Local SEO Guide/Andrew Shotland. I’ve done plenty of local search writing in 2007, but those folks are dedicated almost entirely to local search, and deserve your vote (and mine).

rubber chickenOn a much lighter note, Small Business SEM is also nominated in the Rubber Chicken Awards for the Funniest Article/Post of 2007. Mike Blumenthal is hosting this one, and has some help from an esteemed group of judges. The post of mine in the running is my knee-slapping, ROFLMAO, spit-out-your-beverage-all-over-the-monitor post:

Top 21 Signs You Need a Break From SEO (2007 version)

Yes, I will be voting for myself in this one. Heheheheeee. Actually, I think I already did vote for myself. Maybe I’ll try to stuff the ballot. 🙂

Anyway, please go vote and give some love and appreciation to the blogs that give so much during the year.

  2. Muchas gracias Matt. Maybe all of us local-oriented bloggers should do our own little awards thing next year.
