Local Search - Quick Hits
By Matt McGee on Mar 26, 2007 in Local Search
Frank Fuchs has started putting together what is turning into a really great resource for small businesses:
Get Your Business Listed On Major Local Search Engines, Yellow Pages Sites and Social Local Networks
It’s a one page list detailing all kinds of local search sources where you can submit your business, and what I like most is that it covers sources outside the U.S.A. (which makes sense, since Frank is in Germany!)
My biggest fear with this resource is that, with 48 sources listed (and counting), it may be too much for the small business owner/webmaster. “You mean I have to list my site in 48 places??!!”

Meanwhile, Bill Slawski has a fun look at seven local search queries and compares how Google Maps and Yahoo Local fared on each one. Google came out the clear winner, but Bill admits it’s completely unscientific. In the comments, Matt Cutts even points out that Yahoo could show seven searches where they have better results than Google.
