Introducing HyperlocalBlogger.com
By Matt McGee on Aug 10, 2008 in Site News
A few months ago, when David Mihm interviewed me, he asked me to name one emerging trend in local SEO and small business marketing — what was “the NEXT big thing”, he asked.
At the time, I was about one month into an experiment with my wife: We had created four hyperlocal blogs and started writing about life in the four main cities she covers as a real estate agent. So, my reply to David’s question was hyperlocal blogging:
We all know that a good blog is a powerful SEO tool; the quality of content and links brings trust fairly quickly. So it makes sense that a good local blog would become a trusted source for local information.
Since then, I’ve written a couple posts on this blog about hyperlocal blogging:
I’ve been tempted to write a lot more about hyperlocal blogging — little linkbuilding tips I’ve discovered while doing those four blogs, ideas for finding things to write about, etc. It’s to the point that I could use this blog to write almost exclusively about local blogging. But that didn’t seem right. So, why not start a blog dedicated to the subject? That’s what I’ve done, and I’m pleased to introduce you to:

The ABOUT page has more background on what the blog is and what I hope to accomplish, and there’s also a minute-long video that introduces the blog to new readers.
I’ll still be blogging here at SBSM about small business search marketing, but if you’re interested in local blogging, head on over there and make yourself at home.

This is awesome, Matt!
Finally I have an excuse to never leave my apartment again!
I’m going to blog exclusively about my apartment building and make a ton of money from the AdSense ads because of all the people who are fascinated by my apartment building!!!
You know I’m kidding, right? That probably sounded a lot more sarcastic than it was. It’s late
Going to go check out your new blog for real now

Great to see you coming up with new ideas and sites. Makes me feel a little less nutty when coming up with another idea to blog about.
