Infogroup Offers Local Search Submission & Management Tool

InfoUSA has long been one of the most important places for a local business to have an accurate business listing. The major search engines and other important local sites/directories rely on its business data. And InfoUSA has always had a pretty bare-bones online form for small businesses to use when adding a business listing.
But last week (while I was busy at GetListed.org Local U in Cleveland), InfoUSA did a little rebranding and launched a new and much more substantial business information management service for local businesses. They’re calling it Express Update USA and it’s now under the Infogroup name.

The site offers basic listings for free, and those include standard business information such as Company Name, Address, Phone/Fax, Web Site, Category, and Contact information. This basic service is for local businesses with 10 or fewer locations.
If you have more than 10, or want to pay extra to build out your business information, there’s an Express Plus service. You can add Products and Services, Payment Methods, and Hours. The web site doesn’t make it clear, but Greg Sterling reported last week that this costs $59 per year and will soon include videos and photos.
There’s also a bulk upload option for companies with lots of locations, and that service includes some basic statistical reports, too.
While this service puts InfoUSA Infogroup more squarely in the same space as Localeze and Universal Business Listing — both of which also offer similar data submission/management services — Express Update USA is, to my knowledge, the only one that calls each business in its database to verify the company information.
In any case, this is a welcome addition to the local search landscape and something that local businesses should certainly use.
I’ve updated my Other Local Search Marketing Options article to reflect this new site/tool, as well as some other minor changes on the sites included there.
