No cute lyric tonight; let’s get right to it, shall we?

Yes, it’s still sometimes a challenge to convince small business owners that they need to add great content to their Web sites. Nick Usborne makes the case in nice, simple language: 3 Reasons to Add Articles to your Web Site. Come to think of it … recent experience tells me it’s a challenge to convince bigger companies about this, too.

David Wallace shares some thoughts written for search marketers, but I always think business owners/webmasters should read this kind of stuff, too: How To Detect Problematic Customers Before They Become Paying Customers.

I think Stoney is right: Everything is Marketing.

I’ve been wondering if and when Jim Boykin would tackle the recent hot topic of paid links, and he finally did this week: Can Google Find and Spank your Paid Links?

This is something you’d know if you went to the Link Building sessions at SES, but since not everyone went, Loren Baker explains How Google, Yahoo & Ask.com Treat the No Follow Link Attribute. In a nutshell: Google doesn’t even follow the link; Yahoo may follow the link for the purpose of discovering new content to spider, but won’t count the link as a vote; Ask doesn’t support nofollow at all. No comments from MSN, but I’m not sure it matters much. 🙂

This is kinda clever… Julie Magro writes the Top 10 Phrases Google Stole from Your Mother. (I’m guessing Julie’s mom is smart like my mom, the SEO pioneer.)

Are you using LinkedIn to its full advantage? Lim at Increseo has a quick LinkedIn SEO Guide.

As a big fan of “alternative SEM” (my phrase), I’m obviously a big fan of Andy Hagans’ roundup this week of Top 17 Niche Social Media Sites (That Actually Send Traffic).

Neil Patel’s column on Search Engine Land this week covers some low-hanging fruit that should be part of your social media marketing efforts.

That’s all for this week!

Now playing: “Original of the Species,” U2 (this is such a great song, especially the live version – you should really hear it!)
