Waaaaahh… No ‘Small Biz’ in San Jose
By Matt McGee on Jun 21, 2007 in Education/Conferences
So sad…..
Danny and Chris have posted the Conference-at-a-Glance for SES San Jose in August, and our “Big Ideas for Small Sites and Small Budgets” session is nowhere to be found. Gasp! Shock! Quelle horreur!
Seriously, it is disappointing. I think there’s a proven market for small business search marketing advice/training. Both of our Small Biz sessions last year (San Jose and Chicago) were standing room only, and both graded out at 4 stars (4.0 and 4.1). Danny said via email that the non-fundamental sessions regularly rotate in and out and Incisive would likely bring it back down the road. And he hinted that there might be space at SMX for a small biz panel.
Oh, well … what’s a guy to do?
Relax and just attend the sessions as a spectator? Investigate other speaker openings? Hmmmmm……..

Hey Matt - I think they’re ignoring a big market there. Why!? That title on the agenda is a draw for small business marketers such as myself. Hopefully, you can find another speaking opportunity - if I make it to the conference, I’d love to listen in.

Lots of people ignore the small business market - probably because of that ’s’ word.
I guess they don’t realise that it’s even more challenging, exciting and rewarding working with small business than it is working with the big end of town.

Agreed that they’re missing out on a big market — it definitely makes me reconsider attending this year. Matt, maybe you could hold an “underground” session opposite one of the ones on PPC for Fortune 500 companies!
