One Request for MyBlogLog, please
By Matt McGee on Feb 11, 2007 in Miscellaneous
Since there’s been some good discussion on ways MyBlogLog can improve, I’ll toss in this one request:
Give me the ability to block individual users from appearing in the “Recent Readers” widget on my blog, and the “Recent Visitors to This Page” on my MBL account page.
The reason? So I can make sure folks with spammy account names like this don’t use me for free advertising.

In case you can’t tell, those account names are “online-pharmacy” and “free-apple-iphone”.

Good Call. I have seen both on my recent readers list too.

Well, unless I’m misunderstanding what you want, you can do the first, just click on the red X in the top right of the image. Just make sure that you really want to remove their picture, as there’s no undo feature. As for the latter, aren’t you the only one that can see that ‘recent visitors’ list?

Exactly, that’s one of the basic functions MyBlogLog has offered all along. Assuming you are logged in to your accpimt, you’ll see a red box when you view your own website or when you view the widget view your MBL community page.
I’ve already turned off several spammy or overly-photogenic icons myself.

My dad was right. He said, “You learn something new every day. A day is wasted if you didn’t learn something new.”
Thanks, guys. I’ll look for those icons again and try that red X thing. Cool.
Immediate feedback rocks.
